**Campbell & Johnston: A Modern guitar-driven blues steeped in Classic Rock & Roots**
Christine Campbell & Blake Johnston bring a captivating blend of vintage blues-rock, roots, and folk—with a modern edge. Whether performing as an acoustic duo or fronting a full electric band, they deliver a seamless interplay of blistering guitar solos, soulful vocals, and rich harmonies. Their live shows pulse with raw energy and emotional intimacy, leaving audiences both exhilarated and deeply moved.
Their debut album earned them the 2022 East Coast Music Award for Best Blues Album and a nomination from the Maple Blues Awards. Christine Campbell was also honoured with Music PEI’s Rooted to the Island Award in 2023. Their music has been featured on major Canadian TV shows like Hudson & Rex and Sullivan’s Crossing, and they've shared stages with legends including Steve Earle, Burton Cummings, and Bob Seger.
Their newest album, Paisley Hearts (Spring 2024), continues to reflect their signature vintage vibe with a fresh twist. It debuted at #3 on the Canadian Roots Music Report and received radio play across Canada, the U.K., and the U.S. The single Find Your Way landed on two of Joe Bonamassa’s playlists—Top Shelf (Americana) and Epic Guitar Solos. The track won them another ECMA for Best Blues Release (2025), and the album is now nominated for Blues Recording of the Year by Music Nova Scotia.
Their standout 2024 tour included appearances at Ottawa Bluesfest, Harvest Jazz & Blues, and an opening slot for Tom Cochrane at the Nova Scotia Stampede. In 2025, they're hitting even bigger stages: opening for Amanda Marshall at the Montreal Jazz Fest and performing at PEI’s Sommo Festival, sharing the bill with Alanis Morissette.
Christine Campbell, originally from Prince Edward Island, grew up immersed in music. Classically trained on piano, her heart lies in shredding Zeppelin-inspired riffs and leading kitchen-party-style jams. With a voice often compared to Norah Jones, Bonnie Raitt, and Janis Joplin, she’s recognized as one of the most dynamic and versatile artists on the scene.
Blake Johnston, from Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia, picked up the guitar at age seven and cut his teeth in Halifax’s underground blues circuit. As the frontman of The Stogies, and later a collaborator with country and folk artists, Blake developed a fluid, genre-crossing style. Paisley Hearts showcases his sultry slide guitar, reminiscent of Derek Trucks and the Allman Brothers. Also an acclaimed producer, Blake has worked on multiple award-nominated albums, bringing depth and nuance to his songwriting and arrangements.
Together, Campbell & Johnston bridge the worlds of gritty rock and heartfelt roots, creating music that’s both electrifying and soul-stirring. Their journey—from early musical beginnings to building their own studio and carving out a powerful presence on the national stage—reflects their passion, authenticity, and evolving artistry.
For fans of Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Chris Stapleton, and Tedeschi Trucks Band, Campbell & Johnston deliver a sound that feels both timeless and boldly original.
